Quota

The quota is how much space files can take. It includes all versions of files and the trash.

  • The quota is currently 1 GB per organization owner's account, shared by all of that owner's organizations and projects. On screen this is labeled "The organization owner's account quota".
  • Space is reserved when an upload starts. If a file doesn't fit, the upload won't start — no "uploaded 90% and failed".
  • From 80% the indicator turns yellow: "Storage is more than 80% full". An agent sees the same warning through artifact_quota.
  • At 100% uploads are unavailable: "Quota exhausted — uploads are unavailable". On the web the check happens even before files are queued, based on the total size of the selected files: "Storage quota exhausted: {used} of {limit}. Free up space or change the plan."
  • With the quota exhausted, everything else works: you can read, download, rename, move and delete files as usual.

How to free up space: the "Quota cleanup" case.

Naming rules

Not allowed:

  • an empty name, . and ..;
  • the characters / and \ inside a file or folder name (they separate the path);
  • control characters;
  • spaces at the start or end of the name.

Cyrillic, spaces inside the name and emoji are allowed. A folder can't contain two files or two subfolders with the same name. The root can't be deleted or moved.

Access

  • Files are visible to all members of the organization that owns the project. Permissions are checked on every action: a person removed from the organization loses access immediately.
  • There are no public links. A download link is issued for one file, lives for 5 minutes and is only good for the download itself.
  • Another project is indistinguishable from a nonexistent one: a request to it returns "project not found".

Common questions

The menu has no "Artifactory" item. Artifactory is being enabled for accounts gradually — it hasn't been enabled for yours yet.

The screen says "File storage is not connected in this environment yet". This Flownix server has no file storage. In such an environment the artifact_* tools respond with "artifact storage is not configured on this server".

Why can't semantic search find my file? Search covers the name, folder, description and tags, but not the contents. Add a description — one or two sentences about what's in the file and why it exists. A new file enters the index within a few seconds; files in the trash don't show up in search.

How do I upload a new version of a file? Upload a file with the same name to the same folder and choose "New version". An agent passes new_version: true.

How do I go back to an old version? Download it from "Versions" and upload it as a new version — it becomes the latest, and the history is kept.

Can I delete a single version? No, only the whole file with all its versions.

Can I watch a video right on the screen? Not yet: video and audio can be downloaded; playback will come later.

Why won't a file delete? Tasks, documents or runs reference it. The dialog shows exactly which; you can delete it with the "Delete anyway" button — the references will then point to a deleted file.

A file won't restore from the trash. A file with the same name already sits in the original location. Rename or move it and try again.

Can I drag a file to another folder with the mouse? No, dragging only works for uploading from your system. To move files, use "Move".

Where's the description when uploading through the web? Uploading through the web doesn't ask for a description — add it in the properties panel right after uploading.
